Dear Resident,
I have recently received multiple reports concerning nuisance motorcycles, e-bikes and e-scooters being used across the area. These reports have resulted in several vehicles being seized, including the e-bike shown below.
At first glance, this appears to be a standard pedal cycle. However, it has been modified with an attached battery and an electric motor housed within the rear wheel. This type of modification falls outside the legal requirements for an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) and is therefore not legal for use on public roads, cycle paths or public spaces.
If you own a bike like this, or know someone who does, please be aware that using it in public could result in the vehicle being seized, along with fines, penalty points, or other offences being considered. We will continue to act on reports from the public and target those using illegal vehicles in our communities.
